Case Studies
Plumbing Industry Charitable Trust (PICT)
Alister started the organisation which became PICT in 1999 when running Englefields. PICT started out raising money by running a small tennis tournament, supporting activities to counter NZ’s horrendous record of Youth Suicide. One year two of Alister's daughters lost friends to suicide, and he decided he couldn’t just accept that and do nothing in case somewhere down the track it was one of his daughters.

Stellar Trust
Alister was a founding Trustee of the Stellar Trust when The Stellar Trust was formed in 2008, to raise awareness and educate young people and the community at large about the perils of the dreadful scourge of methamphetamine (P) in NZ. NZ consumes more P per head of population than any other country in the world. He was instrumental in attracting Peter Boshier to be the Trust's Patron (at that time Peter was the Principal Family Court Judge), and Burton Shipley to be Chairman. Alister became Deputy Chairman early on and remains in that position.

Winstone Architectural Cladding LTD
On returning to NZ In 1986, Alister decided it was time to leave the consulting engineering profession behind and join the commercial world. He was engaged by Winstone Glass to establish a contracting organization to undertake the exterior cladding systems for high-rise buildings, commonly called curtainwalls. This was an absolute start up, and required Winstone's to establish a technology agreement with Dowell from Australia, to establish business systems and processes, introduce manufacturing and contracting skills, and recruit a team of people to design, price, manage and work on site.
