In April 2013 Alister Lawrence launched the next phase of his career as an Executive and/or Company Director. Alister has over 25 years experience as General Manager/Managing Director/CEO, and 15 years as both an Executive and Non-Executive Director, and as a Trustee of two Charitable Trusts.
The unique aspects of his skillset are that Alister has been involved in a range of businesses with a variety of business models (Group Holding Co, Group subsidiaries, Public Companies, Private Companies, Cooperatives and Charitable Trusts) with extensive involvement building businesses internationally (primarily in Australia, Asia, India and into the Middle East), establishing Joint Ventures and start-ups. It is a track record he is proud of.

Alister chose the name Miro Partners for several reasons:
- He lives in Miro Road on Waiheke Island - a little piece of paradise, close to the sea from which he draws his inspiration and joie de vivre.

The Miro tree is a native of NZ, growing tall and strong. It is much loved as a favourite food for the native wood pigeon.

Joan Miro was a Catalan artist in the last century, and in one period of his life, his genre has been described as "Magical Realism".
- Miro was a Suevic/Galician King between 570 and 583 AD, and Miro the Elder, was a Catalan leader in the late 800s. Both these men were capable leaders.
- Partners denotes 'working together' and 'shared commitment', as opposed to Consultants who offer advice and write reports but don't get in the trenches with you.
